#1 Way to Be An Expert At Anything
My son is a huge fan of Legos. He plays with them frequently and he also watches YouTube videos on them. One of the videos he watched was a Lego Model of the Titanic. This started him down a road of learning about the Titanic that demonstrated to me how anyone can become an expert at nearly anything.
My son watched that video on the Titanic and many more about it. Then he brought books home from the school library and studied the interior of the ship and how it was built. He learned anything he could about the ship and what happened that night.
He continued his learning experience by building models of the Titanic out of anything he could find. And, then reenacting the sinking of the ship including the way it broke in half as it sank.
He went all in on this one topic. He was obviously very interested. Obsessed might be a better description.
He demonstrated what I describe as deep dive learning. You may have done something like this in your life.
You absolutely go all out on something. You forget the time. You forget to eat. You forget to shower.
And, when you finally surface and join the rest of us. You have become a near expert on that topic. It could be anything.
I have done this learning a new song on the guitar. I did do this when I was getting my CPA license. It is called massive action. Tony Robbins calls this "immersion."
When I built my first house I worked at nights and on weekends for three months. In August it was a plot of land. In November, it was a fully built and furnished home hosting Thanksgiving.
Yes, it is possible. If you go all in. If you do deep dive learning. If you immerse yourself in it.
If you go Beast Mode. If you go all in.
What could you go all in on?
Or, what would you like to but haven't?
